120. Gabriel Tiwakan RENVILLE²² was born in Apr 1824 in Sweet Corn's Sisseton Village, W side Big Stone Lake.³⁴ He was adopted in 1833. He was a captain of scouts under General Henry H. Sibley in Minnesota Territory.³⁴ He was appointed by the War Department as head chief of the Sisseton-Wahpeton tribe in 1866 at South Dakota He was elected as head chief for life in 1867 in Lake Traverse Reservation.³⁹ He died on 26 Aug 1892 in Browns Valley, Minnesota, USA.³⁴
