Yesterday winter set in anew here, and we have up to 4 inches of snow.

On March 19, Anton Jochim ended his two-month-long series of organ instructions, which was attended by four students, including me. We made progress with which I am more than satisfied. The same holds for the other students and we all thank teacher Mr. Anton Jochim profusely. We made astonishing progress in 40 days of school. Today I play a large number of religious and secular songs, and also two Gregorian Chant masses. I stand in wonder that Mr. Jochim could take us that far. I had absolutely no knowledge of notes, though I played a few pieces by ear. But when I began with the notes, it was something completely different. All of us progressed to the point where we can now can educate ourselves further. In Mr. Jochim we have found a capable teacher and we are very grateful to him. He enjoys his good calling without being paid, and always does more than he promises.

Greetings to Valentin Jochim and to Franz Joseph Lipp and their families.
