Following his retirement from government service, much of Ed Merck's time has been spent serving as an RSVP volunteer and doing family history research. His volunteer work has involved creating and maintaining websites for several nonprofit groups and organizations. This site serves as an index to some of that work.

KARK and the Arkansas Department of Human Services' Division of Community Services presented a Community Service Award to Ed Merck at a banquet at the Governor's Mansion on June 13, 2014.
